Include your iPhone model, iOS version, NetScope version, the tool you used, and what happened. A screenshot or report can help if you are comfortable sharing it. Remove private identifiers you do not want to send; never include passwords.
Common questions
Start with a health check
Open Home and tap Diagnose Network. Read the diagnosis and suggested next step, then expand the test details if you need more evidence. After changing one thing, tap Retest. Saved sessions in History can help compare before and after.
My Wi-Fi name is unavailable
Some Wi-Fi identity fields depend on iOS permission and device conditions. To show the current network name, use the app’s Wi-Fi identity explanation and continue to the system location prompt. If you previously declined, review NetScope’s location permission in iOS Settings. Diagnostics still work when the name is unavailable.
The LAN scan misses a device
Connect to the intended Wi-Fi network and allow Local Network access in iOS Settings. Sleeping devices, firewalls, VPNs, guest-network isolation, and devices that do not advertise services or respond to probes can limit discovery. A missing result does not prove a device is disconnected.
Do I need a NetScope Scanner?
No accessory is needed for ordinary health checks, speed, latency, DNS, website tests, or local device discovery. Nearby access-point lists, RSSI, and channel data require a compatible NetScope Scanner Bluetooth accessory. Bluetooth access is requested when you add a scanner. The Pro purchase does not include hardware.
Why do results change between tests?
Network congestion, Wi-Fi conditions, VPNs, cellular routing, the destination, and other activity can affect measurements. Retest under similar conditions and compare several sessions. Speed tests use data, including on metered connections. An unavailable result means the test could not establish a value.
Does the monitor keep running in the background?
Keep NetScope open and active for Quality Monitor sessions. iOS may suspend work when the app moves to the background or the phone locks. Notifications do not turn it into an unrestricted background monitor.
How do surveys work without LiDAR?
Import a floor plan image or PDF and collect point measurements. RoomPlan capture is optional and requires compatible LiDAR hardware. Wi-Fi radio measurements still need a scanner; room geometry alone does not measure signal strength.
How do I restore Pro?
Open Settings and use Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple Account that made the purchase. Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase, not a subscription. A factory reset does not cancel ownership. Contact support if restoration fails, or use Apple’s purchase support for refund requests.
How can I export or delete my data?
Use the share action on a result for a report, or Settings → Export my data (JSON). Settings also includes Delete All Network History and Reset to Factory Settings. Review reports before sharing because they may include network and device identifiers. Delete exported files and backups separately.
Using network tools responsibly
Test networks and devices you own or are authorized to troubleshoot. Findings are diagnostic estimates, not a guarantee that a network is secure or that a particular component caused an outage.
