This policy explains how NetScope Pro handles information when you use its network diagnostics, device discovery, surveys, reports, and optional scanner accessory.

Information stored on your device

The app stores settings, purchase-unlock status, diagnostic history, and information you choose to save in its local storage. Depending on the tools you use, this can include network names (SSIDs), access-point identifiers (BSSIDs), IP addresses, hostnames, DNS queries and answers, test targets, device and service details, device notes, timestamps, survey measurements, imported floor plans, room geometry, and report branding.

NetScope Pro does not automatically upload this history to a QnSub server. The diagnostic advisor uses rules on your device and does not send your results to a cloud AI service. No QnSub account is required.

Network tests and external services

Diagnostics require network traffic. The app connects to local devices, DNS resolvers, websites, and other test endpoints. A destination can receive your public IP address, request timing, protocol information, and the domain, URL, or other target information involved in that request. Local devices can see the discovery and connection checks directed at them. Network operators and providers may process or retain this traffic under their own policies.

  • Default test destinations: Cloudflare is used for speed and connectivity tests; Google and Cloudflare addresses are used for reachability checks; Apple is used for DNS and HTTPS checks; ipify is used to determine public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
  • DNS tools: Queries go to the selected resolver, including your configured resolver or optional Google or Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS services.
  • Custom targets: Website, latency, port, DNS, and other tests contact the addresses you select. Configurable test endpoints are available in Settings.
  • Speed tests: Uploads contain generated test bytes rather than your documents or photos. Speed tests can transfer substantial data and count toward your network plan.

These service providers operate independently of QnSub. Their policies are available from Cloudflare, Google, Apple, and ipify. Your chosen destinations may have different practices. Saved reports and floor plans are not attached to diagnostic requests.

Permissions and optional features

  • Local Network: Used to discover devices and Bonjour services and run tests against devices on your network.
  • Location While Using: iOS requires this authorization for access to current Wi-Fi identity. NetScope uses it to read the connected network’s SSID, BSSID, and security type, not to record your geographic position. The app does not store or transmit location coordinates. You can decline and continue using diagnostics, with some network identity fields unavailable.
  • Bluetooth: Used to pair and communicate with an optional NetScope Scanner. Nearby access-point observations received from it can be saved locally as part of your scans and surveys.
  • Camera and LiDAR: Optional RoomPlan capture processes video on device to create room geometry for surveys. The app does not store the capture video or upload the geometry automatically.
  • Photos and files: Floor plans you choose to import are used and stored locally for your surveys.
  • Notifications: Optional local alerts for new devices and outages. Quality monitoring requires the app to remain active; this is not a continuous background monitoring service.

You can review or revoke permissions in iOS Settings. Revoking permission stops future access but does not automatically delete information already saved in the app.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The current version has no advertising or analytics SDK and does not send usage analytics to QnSub. The “Anonymous usage analytics” preference is off by default; in this version it only stores your preference locally. NetScope does not track you across apps or websites or sell your diagnostic history.

Purchases and update checks

Apple processes the optional, one-time Pro unlock through StoreKit. The app verifies the purchase and stores an unlock state; QnSub does not receive your card details or Apple Account password. Apple also handles purchase restoration and refunds. App update checks contact Apple’s lookup service using the app identifier and storefront information; Apple receives normal request information such as your IP address.

Reports and support you choose to share

Reports are generated on your device. When you export or share them, the file goes to the app, person, or storage destination you select using the system share sheet. Reports may contain network identifiers, IP addresses, device names, or floor plans. Review a report before sharing it. The recipient’s privacy practices apply to their copy.

If you email support, QnSub receives your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond to your request and resolve issues, and retain correspondence only as needed for support and applicable obligations. Contact appsupport@qnsub.com to request deletion of support correspondence. Do not send network passwords or credentials.

Retention, backups, and deletion

Local data remains until you remove it. Use Settings → Delete All Network History to clear saved network history, or Reset to Factory Settings to clear local app data and preferences. Deleting the app also removes its local data container. Resetting local data does not revoke an Apple purchase or request a refund.

App data may be included in device or iCloud backups according to your Apple settings. Exported reports, shared copies, backups, and records held independently by test providers must be managed separately. QnSub cannot retrieve or delete history stored only on your device; we can help you find the in-app controls.

Changes and contact

We will update this policy and its effective date if the app’s practices change. For privacy questions or requests concerning information you have sent to QnSub, contact appsupport@qnsub.com.
