KeyThock Privacy Policy
The short version: everything stays on your Mac.

This is a plain-English explanation of what KeyThock does with your data. The short version: everything stays on your Mac. QnSub Tech does not run a server, does not have an account system, and does not ship analytics or advertising SDKs.
What KeyThock stores
All of the following is stored locally on your Mac:
- Settings — your selected sound pack, mixer presets, per-key sample assignments, app preferences, volume, effects, and general preferences. Stored in macOS UserDefaults.
- Imported sound packs — any custom
.thockpack,.zip, or folder pack you import is copied into the app's Application Support folder.
Input Monitoring and key events
KeyThock requests macOS Input Monitoring so it can detect key presses while you type in other apps and immediately play a local keypress sound. The app uses only the physical key identity and event phase (key down / key up) to choose and play a sound.
KeyThock specifically does not:
- Store what you type.
- Reconstruct words, sentences, or passwords from key events.
- Log or persist raw key events or live key identities after playback.
- Send keyboard events over the network.
- Read your clipboard.
- Take screenshots.
Raw key events are evaluated in memory in real time for sound playback only, then discarded. User-created per-key sample assignments are stored locally only as settings when you configure them in the app; they are not derived from typing history.
Network and analytics
KeyThock does not make network requests for telemetry. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter SDK, and no tracking. The app does not track you across apps or websites.
Permissions
KeyThock requests:
- Input Monitoring — required to detect key presses and play sounds while you type in other apps.
- File access (read-only, user-selected) — used only when you explicitly import a local sound pack file, zip, thockpack, or folder.
It does not access your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, calendar, reminders, or location.
What we do not do
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not use analytics SDKs.
- We do not use advertising SDKs.
- We do not sell or share your data with anyone.
- We do not have a server collecting your data.
- We do not require you to create an account.
Deleting your data
Because everything is local, dragging KeyThock to the Trash deletes everything — your settings and any imported sound packs go with it. There is nothing on a server to delete.
iCloud backup
If you back your Mac up to iCloud or Time Machine, your KeyThock settings are part of that backup — same as any other app. QnSub Tech does not see or have access to this data.
Children
KeyThock is rated 4+. There are no accounts, no chat, no user-generated content shared with anyone, no ads, and no third-party SDKs.
Changes to this policy
If the privacy practices change, we'll update this page with the new effective date. Material changes (e.g., adding a backend) will be highlighted at the top.
