EngineEar records engine sounds, performs an on-device acoustic assessment, and lets you keep vehicle, inspection, service, photo, audio, comparison, and export records. This policy explains what the current app handles and the choices available to you.
No account, developer backend, or remote AI
EngineEar does not require a QnSub account, public profile, name, email address, or social login. QnSub does not operate a backend that receives your vehicle details, recordings, results, inspection records, service history, or selected photos. Acoustic processing and Core ML inference run on your device.
Information stored on your device
EngineEar can store vehicle profiles, test types and conditions, acoustic measurements and results, saved audio, notes, inspection checklists, job and workshop references, odometer values, symptoms, work performed, next steps, selected photos, service records, costs, and app preferences in its local app container.
Microphone
EngineEar requests microphone permission so you can record an engine sample. The recording is captured and analyzed locally. Microphone access can be changed in system Settings. EngineEar does not listen or record unless you start a test.
Photos
PRO inspection records can include photos you deliberately select through Apple's system photo picker. EngineEar receives only the items you choose. Selected images are resized and re-encoded without source metadata before they are stored with the local inspection record. EngineEar does not request broad photo-library access.
Exports and sharing
When you choose to export or share, EngineEar creates a supported PDF, WAV, JSON, or CSV file locally and presents the system share sheet. QnSub does not receive a copy. The destination app, service, recipient, or storage location you choose handles the exported file under its own privacy practices.
Purchases and update checks
EngineEar can contact Apple to display or restore the EngineEar PRO entitlement and to check App Store version information. Apple processes App Store payment credentials, transaction history, and related account information under Apple's policies. EngineEar receives only the purchase state needed to unlock features; QnSub does not receive your payment-card details.
Backups
Saved engine audio is excluded from normal device backups. Other local app records may be included according to your device, iCloud, and backup settings. QnSub does not control Apple-created backups.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
EngineEar does not include third-party advertising, analytics, tracking, remote AI, or crash-reporting SDKs. It does not sell personal information, build advertising profiles, track you across other companies' apps or websites, or request App Tracking Transparency permission.
Your controls and deletion choices
- Delete individual tests and their saved recordings from the app.
- Delete vehicle profiles and the records attached to them.
- Control whether supported test audio is retained.
- Remove inspection photos or records inside EngineEar.
- Use Reset to Factory Settings to delete EngineEar's local records and restore default app state.
- Delete exported files from the destination where you saved or shared them.
- Delete the app to remove its ordinary local app container. Apple-controlled backups and purchase records must be managed separately.
See the dedicated EngineEar Privacy Choices page for step-by-step controls.
Children
EngineEar is a general vehicle utility and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information through a QnSub service.
Changes to this policy
QnSub may update this policy when EngineEar's features or data practices change. The effective date will be revised when that happens.
Contact
For privacy questions, email appsupport@qnsub.com with “EngineEar Privacy” in the subject. Because QnSub does not hold a server copy of EngineEar app data, support cannot view or remotely delete records stored only on your device, in your backups, or with a destination you selected for an export.
