super-hear Terms of Use
The agreement for using super-hear.
Effective: 2026-06-04
App: super-hear (com.qnsub.superhear.app)
Publisher: QnSub
Contact: superhear@qnsub.com
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the super-hear app ("super-hear", "the app") published by QnSub ("we", "us"). By downloading or using super-hear, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use super-hear on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions (including the standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, "Apple Standard EULA"). Where these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA conflict, the Apple Standard EULA governs for the app license.
2. What super-hear is, and isn't
Is: a real-time listening utility that uses your iPhone's microphone and an output device of your choice (typically AirPods or wired headphones) to make nearby sound easier to follow. It can also record audio locally, create on-device transcripts, and estimate repeating low-frequency audio patterns with Beat Detect.
Is not: a medical device, diagnostic tool, treatment tool, monitoring tool, or substitute for professional care. super-hear has not been evaluated by any regulatory body and is not intended for clinical use.
3. Hearing safety
Loud sounds can damage your hearing. Even with the limiter and safety clamps built in, you are responsible for the volume you choose:
- Start every session at a low volume. Raise it gradually until you can hear clearly without discomfort.
- If anything sounds painfully loud, stop immediately, lower the World Volume slider, and ease back in.
- Do not use the app to listen to loud machinery, gunfire, or other dangerously high-volume sources.
- super-hear is intended for focused listening sessions. Prolonged amplified listening can fatigue your ears.
- Children should use the app only under adult supervision, with the volume set conservatively.
4. Beat Detect
Beat Detect provides best-effort estimates for repeating audio patterns. It is not a health or medical measurement feature. A "no reading" or unstable estimate only means the app could not lock onto a clear repeating audio pattern.
5. Personal EQ setup
The guided tone setup creates a personal EQ correction for listening comfort inside the app. It is not calibrated, does not measure hearing ability, and should not be used as evidence of any health condition.
6. Privacy
super-hear is local-first: it has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and does not transmit your data to us. See our Privacy Policy for details.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use super-hear to surveil or eavesdrop on others without their consent.
- Use the app where local laws restrict audio recording.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract source code from the app, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
- Use the app in life-critical contexts, emergency response, or medical decision-making.
8. Recording laws
Audio recording laws vary by jurisdiction. Some regions require all-party consent before recording a conversation. It is your responsibility to know and comply with the laws that apply to you.
9. No warranty
super-hear is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. Your use of the app is at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, QnSub will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use super-hear, including but not limited to hearing damage, missed sounds, property damage, lost data, or reliance on app-generated estimates. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
11. Changes to the app and these Terms
We may update super-hear and these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
12. Termination
These Terms apply while you use super-hear. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end the license if you materially breach these Terms.
