When emailing, it helps to include:

  • Your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About)
  • The StudioBlur version shown in App Store or iOS Settings
  • Which mode you were using: Blur, Image, Color, or Animate
  • What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
  • A screenshot or short screen recording if the interface looks wrong

Getting started

Record a cleaner creator video in a few taps.

  1. Open StudioBlur and grant Camera and Microphone permission.
  2. Choose a look: Blur, Image, Color, or Animate.
  3. Pick 9:16, 1:1, or 16:9 framing, then tap the red record button.
  4. Stop recording. StudioBlur saves the finished video to Photos and shows Play and Share options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common StudioBlur issues.

Why does StudioBlur need Camera and Microphone permission?

Camera permission is needed to show and record your video. Microphone permission is needed to record audio with that video. You can change permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.

Why does the app ask for Photos access?

StudioBlur uses Photos access only to let you choose custom background photos or videos, and to save finished recordings to your Photos library.

Does StudioBlur upload my camera video, background images, or face data?

No. Camera processing, person segmentation, face detection for optional smoothing, background replacement, recording, and export run on your iPhone. StudioBlur does not collect, store, upload, or share face data, face templates, camera frames, recordings, or background media. The app has no account system, no analytics SDKs, no ad SDKs, and no server-side processing. See the Privacy Policy.

Why does StudioBlur detect my face?

StudioBlur uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to find the face area and person outline only while rendering the current camera frame. This helps with optional face smoothing and background effects. The app does not identify you, create a faceprint, retain face detection results, or send face information anywhere.

The background blur edge looks imperfect. What can I do?

Person segmentation works best with good lighting, a clear outline around your head and shoulders, and some distance from the background. Try moving away from the wall, adding front light, or switching from Extreme to Strong for a smoother edge.

My finished video did not appear in Photos.

Check iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → StudioBlur and make sure the app can add to Photos. Then record another short clip and wait for the export screen to show "Saved to Photos".

Can I use my own video as a background?

Yes. Tap Image, choose Photos, then select a photo or video from your library. The selected background is used locally inside the app.

How do I delete StudioBlur data?

Uninstalling StudioBlur removes its local app data. Videos already saved to Photos are managed in the Photos app, so delete them there if you no longer want them.

I want a refund.

App Store purchases and refunds are handled by Apple. Request a refund through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
