StudioBlur Camera Privacy Policy
The short version: your camera video and backgrounds stay on your iPhone.
Effective: 2026-06-25
App: StudioBlur Camera (com.studioblur.app)
Publisher: QnSub

This is a plain-English explanation of what StudioBlur Camera does with your data. The short version: StudioBlur does not collect personal data or face data. The app has no account system, no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no server-side processing for your videos, backgrounds, camera frames, microphone audio, or face information.
What we collect
Nothing. QnSub does not receive your camera video, microphone audio, imported background images or videos, finished exports, settings, usage activity, camera frames, face images, face geometry, face templates, faceprints, biometric identifiers, or identity-matching data.
How StudioBlur uses your camera and microphone
StudioBlur uses the camera and microphone only while you are using the recorder:
- Camera frames are processed on device for live preview, person segmentation, optional face smoothing, blur, background replacement, text overlays, lighting controls, and recording.
- Microphone audio is captured only to include sound in your recording.
- Camera frames and microphone audio are not uploaded to QnSub or any third party.
Face Data and On-Device Processing
StudioBlur Camera uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect a person's face area and person outline in live camera frames. This processing is used only to apply app features such as optional face smoothing, background blur, custom image backgrounds, color backgrounds, and animated backgrounds.
The app does not collect face data. The app does not create face templates, faceprints, biometric identifiers, face recognition profiles, or identity-matching data. The app does not identify who a person is.
Face detection results and person masks are processed temporarily in device memory for the current video frame and are discarded immediately after rendering that frame. They are not stored by StudioBlur Camera, uploaded to a server, shared with third parties, or used for analytics, advertising, tracking, authentication, or identification.
If you record a video, the rendered video may include your face because it is your camera recording. The finished video is saved locally to your device's Photos library when you choose to save or when auto-save is enabled. StudioBlur Camera does not receive or access that saved video outside your device.
How StudioBlur uses Photos
StudioBlur requests Photos access for two user-controlled actions:
- Choosing background photos or videos from your library.
- Saving finished videos to your Photos library after recording.
Selected background images may be stored locally in the app's private Application Support folder so you can reuse recent backgrounds. Selected background videos are copied to a local temporary app folder while the app uses them. Finished recordings are written locally and then saved to Photos when you grant permission.
What StudioBlur stores on your device
The following may be stored locally on your iPhone and is not transmitted to QnSub:
- App settings, such as selected mode, selected animated background style, selected color, and screen light height.
- Recent background images, up to eight compressed copies, in the app's private Application Support folder.
- Temporary recordings and background videos while the app is processing or previewing them.
- Finished videos in your Photos library after export, if you allow Photos save access.
No tracking, analytics, or ads
StudioBlur contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no attribution SDKs, and no tracking features. We do not track you across apps or websites, sell data, or share data with advertisers.
Sharing
StudioBlur Camera does not share personal data, face data, camera frames, audio, photos, videos, or usage information with third parties. The app does not include third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, or remote face-processing services.
Sharing videos
When you tap Share, StudioBlur opens the native iOS share sheet. You choose where the file goes, such as Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Files, or another app. Once you share a file outside StudioBlur, its handling is governed by the receiving service's privacy policy.
Retention
StudioBlur Camera does not retain face data. Face detection results and segmentation masks exist only in volatile device memory while a frame is being processed.
Finished videos are stored locally on your device if you save them to Photos or share them using iOS sharing tools. You control those files through iOS and the Photos app.
iCloud Backup
If iCloud Backup is enabled, iOS may include StudioBlur's local app data and Photos library items in your iCloud backup according to your device settings. This is handled by Apple, not by StudioBlur. QnSub does not receive or control your iCloud Backup data.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling StudioBlur removes its local app container, including local settings and recent background images. Finished videos saved to Photos are not removed when you uninstall the app; you can delete them directly in Photos.
Children
StudioBlur does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app has no account system, no public sharing feed, no chat, no advertising, and no tracking SDKs.
Changes to this policy
If our privacy practices change, we will update this page with a new effective date. Material changes would be called out clearly.
