When emailing, it helps to include:

  • Your device and iOS version (Settings → General → About)
  • The EscapeLoop version (Settings tab in the app)
  • A short description of what you did and what you expected
  • Screenshots if anything looks visually wrong

Getting started

Four steps to your first calm pause.

  1. Open EscapeLoop and grant Screen Time permission when asked.
  2. Go to the Shield tab and choose the apps or categories you want to pause.
  3. Add Your Why — a photo and a short reason — so the pause feels personal.
  4. That’s it. Opening a shielded app now brings up a calm pause instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often.

Why does EscapeLoop need Screen Time permission?

Apple’s Screen Time (Family Controls) is the only way an app can shield other apps on iOS. Without it, EscapeLoop can’t create the pause.

Can EscapeLoop see which apps I use, or my usage stats?

No. iOS hands the app opaque tokens for your selection. EscapeLoop can’t read the specific app names you pick or your detailed usage, and nothing leaves your device.

Why don’t I get notifications from an app while it’s shielded?

While an app is shielded, iOS typically also holds that app’s notifications until the shield is lifted. This is iOS behavior tied to the restriction — it can’t be separated from shielding, and EscapeLoop has no control over it.

How do I take a quick break from a shielded app?

Open EscapeLoop, go to the Pause tab, look at your “Why”, and tap Grant me X minutes. Then, when you open the shielded app, the shield offers a quick unlock for that window. Daily limits and a cooldown keep it intentional.

Do my settings and “Why” survive reinstalling the app?

Yes. Your settings, limits, and a compact copy of your tasks and “Why” are kept in the device Keychain so they return after a reinstall — all on-device. Choose Clear All Local Data or Reset to Factory Settings in Settings if you want a truly fresh start.

How do I remove everything or turn EscapeLoop off?

In Settings: Clear All Local Data erases your on-device data (including the reinstall backup). Reset to Factory Settings also removes EscapeLoop’s Screen Time permission. Both are confirmed with a PIN-style code.

The shield isn’t appearing on my apps.

Open the Shield tab and confirm Screen Time shows “Approved,” then re-pick your apps. If you recently reinstalled, you’ll need to grant Screen Time and choose your apps again — iOS does not restore those across reinstalls.

Is my data private?

Yes. EscapeLoop has no accounts, no tracking, and no ads, and it never sends your data anywhere. See our Privacy Policy.
