Contexto is an iPhone voice-notes and personal-knowledge app. It records and transcribes notes, organizes user-approved actions and memories, supports search and export, and can use either on-device Apple Intelligence or optional Cloud AI. This policy describes the current app and service behavior.
No sign-in or public profile
Contexto does not require a name, email address, social login, or public account. It has no public profile, social feed, advertising profile, or cross-app tracking. A random installation identifier and secret credential are created in the iPhone Keychain only when the app needs to check or use an AI-pack balance.
Recordings, transcripts, and your library
Voice recordings, transcripts, notes, markers, summaries, actions, projects, people, topics, memories, documents, conversations, photo and video attachments, and app settings are primarily stored in Contexto's private container on your device. Recordings use iOS Data Protection and are not uploaded by Contexto. Speech transcription runs on the device through Apple's speech frameworks.
Information stored locally may be included in device backups according to your iOS and iCloud settings. Files you export are handled by the destination app, service, or recipient under its own privacy practices.
Local AI
Cloud AI is off by default. On supported devices and languages, Apple Intelligence can analyze note text locally to produce briefs, memories, answers, and documents. Contexto does not send that local-AI content to QnSub or OpenAI.
Optional Cloud AI
When you turn on Cloud AI and start a supported request, Contexto sends the note text and limited context needed for that request over an encrypted connection to a QnSub service running on Cloudflare. The service forwards the request to OpenAI and returns the generated result. Recording audio is never included.
The OpenAI Responses API request is sent with response storage disabled (store: false). QnSub's service does not intentionally save note text, prompts, generated answers, or photos in its application database. OpenAI and Cloudflare may process request content and operational data under their applicable service terms, security controls, and retention policies.
Photo review
When you choose a photo, Contexto creates a new JPEG no larger than 1600 pixels per side and under 900 KB. Re-encoding does not carry the original photo metadata into the submitted JPEG. Apple Vision reads visible text on device, and you can correct that text before sending anything.
Selecting a photo alone does not upload it. When you tap Review photo with Cloud AI enabled, the re-encoded JPEG, your checked text, selected review mode, and any optional improvement goal are sent through Cloudflare to OpenAI. The result can include spelling suggestions, visible improvements, or an experimental style-resemblance assessment. Contexto does not claim that a photo can prove AI authorship.
Cloud service records
To operate prepaid AI packs and prevent duplicate charges, the Cloudflare service stores a random account identifier, a hash of the installation credential, remaining credit balance, purchase transaction identifiers, product identifiers, request identifiers, credit reservations, settlement amounts, states, and timestamps. Request logs can include a generated request identifier, status, error code, and duration. They are not designed to include note text, generated answers, recording audio, or submitted photos.
Purchases
Apple processes App Store payments and payment credentials. Contexto receives signed transaction information needed to verify an AI-pack purchase. The Cloudflare service stores the transaction identifier, product identifier, credited amount, revocation state, and installation account association so balances cannot be granted twice. QnSub does not receive your payment card number or Apple Account password.
Permissions
- Microphone: records only after you start a voice note or voice command.
- Speech Recognition: transcribes recordings on the device.
- Camera and Photos: add an attachment or choose a photo for the review you request.
- Reminders: creates an approved reminder only after confirmation.
- Calendar: creates an approved event only after confirmation.
- Notifications: optional briefs and due reminders when enabled.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
Contexto does not include a third-party advertising or analytics SDK. It does not sell personal information, build advertising profiles, or track activity across other companies' apps and websites. It does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.
Your controls and deletion choices
- Turn Cloud AI off to stop future note-text and photo-review uploads.
- Inspect, edit, archive, or delete memories and AI-derived items.
- Delete a note to remove its local recording, transcript, attachments, and derived output.
- Export individual notes or the full library before deletion.
- Use Reset to factory settings to remove local notes, recordings, memories, attachments, app settings, and local purchase display state.
- Delete Contexto from the iPhone to remove its ordinary app container. Exported copies and device backups must be deleted separately.
Factory reset intentionally preserves the Keychain installation credential and the matching server-side AI-pack ledger so a reset cannot create or erase purchased allowance. Apple transaction records and QnSub's purchase and usage accounting may remain for purchase integrity, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute handling, and legal obligations. Contexto does not currently provide a public sign-in account to delete.
Recording other people
Laws about recording conversations vary by location. Contexto displays an active recording state and does not start covertly. You are responsible for giving notice and obtaining consent where required.
Children
Contexto is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the app to collect a child's information without appropriate authority and consent.
Changes to this policy
QnSub may update this policy when Contexto's features or data practices change. The effective date will be revised, and material changes will be described clearly.
