This is a plain-English explanation of what BirthPilot does with your data. The short version: your data stays on your iPhone. BirthPilot does not require an account, does not run a server for your app data, and does not ship analytics or advertising SDKs.
What BirthPilot stores
BirthPilot stores the information you enter or choose locally on your device, including:
- Family profile — mommy name, kid profiles, active kid selection, optional due date, birth date, baby name details, gender, surname, middle initial, and pinned baby names.
- Pregnancy and birth logs — kick sessions, contraction sessions, pregnancy test entries, vitals, symptoms, appointment notes, calendar events, and provider notes.
- Preparation data — hospital bag items, shopping list items, birth plan preferences, reminders you create in the app, and checklist progress.
- Baby journal data — milestone completion, milestone notes, first-year journal entries, and stage-specific memories.
- Media you choose — photos and videos selected for stages, calendar events, pregnancy tests, milestones, celebrations, memories, or slideshows.
- Generated exports — doctor summaries, JSON exports, and memory slideshow videos are created on device when you request them.
Where your data is stored
BirthPilot stores app records in its local app container. Photos and videos you choose are copied into BirthPilot's app folder in the device's local Documents storage so the app can show them later. QnSub Tech does not receive a copy of those files.
If your iPhone backs up app data to iCloud or a computer backup, BirthPilot data may be included in that device backup. QnSub Tech cannot see or access your iCloud or device backups.
Photos and videos
BirthPilot uses Apple's photo picker when you choose media for stage slots, milestones, calendar events, pregnancy tests, or memories. The app only receives the photos or videos you select. It does not scan your photo library, and it does not upload selected media to QnSub Tech.
Music and audio
BirthPilot includes a small library of bundled music tracks that can play continuously until stopped, including background playback when allowed by iOS. The app uses audio playback only. It does not access the microphone, record audio, or upload listening activity.
Sharing and exports
BirthPilot can generate summaries and exports on device. Data leaves the app only when you choose to share or save it using iOS sharing controls. For example:
- Doctor summaries and app data exports are handed to the iOS share sheet only when you tap share.
- Memory slideshow videos are generated on device and shared or saved only when you choose to export them.
- Anything you send through Mail, Messages, Files, cloud storage, or another app is governed by that app's privacy policy.
Network, analytics, and ads
BirthPilot does not have an account system, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, third-party tracking SDK, or QnSub server collecting your pregnancy, health, birth, baby-name, journal, or media data.
QnSub Tech does not sell your data and does not use your BirthPilot entries for advertising or tracking.
Permissions
BirthPilot may use the following iOS capabilities:
- Photos access through Apple's picker — used only when you select photos or videos to import into BirthPilot.
- Background audio — used so bundled music can keep playing until you stop it.
- Share sheet — used when you choose to export reports, data, or memory videos.
BirthPilot does not use HealthKit, Location, Contacts, Microphone, Bluetooth, or advertising tracking permissions in the current release.
Medical and safety note
BirthPilot is for recording and preparation only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, risk assessment, or emergency monitoring. BirthPilot cannot determine whether you or your baby are safe.
Always contact your clinician, hospital, or emergency services if you are worried, notice reduced movement, have bleeding, fluid leakage, severe pain, severe headache, vision changes, or any urgent symptoms.
Deleting your data
You can delete data from inside BirthPilot:
- Reset Everything To Onboarding clears local profiles, logs, plans, checklists, and journal data, then shows setup again.
- Delete Profile removes a kid profile and that profile's saved records.
- Edit or delete logs lets you update or remove supported entries such as vitals and symptoms.
Uninstalling BirthPilot also removes the app and its local data container from your iPhone. There is no QnSub server copy to delete.
Children
BirthPilot is intended for parents, guardians, and caregivers. It does not create accounts for children, and it does not knowingly collect children's personal data on QnSub servers.
Changes to this policy
If BirthPilot's privacy practices change, we will update this page with a new effective date. Material changes, such as adding a backend account system or analytics SDK, will be reflected here and in the app's privacy disclosures.
