Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common Study Buddy questions.
Do I need an account?
No. Study Buddy is designed to work without an account. Student notes, subjects, plans, slambook entries, and settings are stored locally on the device.
Why does Study Buddy ask for camera access?
Camera access is used only when you open camera features, such as scanning text for Ask, live translation, capture-and-answer, QR share cards, or adding a classmate photo.
Why does Study Buddy ask for microphone or speech recognition?
Microphone and speech recognition are used for dictation and voice questions. The app starts listening only when the user starts a voice feature.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Study Buddy includes backup/export tools so a user can package their notes, subjects, questions, slambook data, settings, and related local files for safekeeping or transfer.
Can I import data later?
Yes. Backup import is available so previously exported Study Buddy data can be restored on the device.
What is the Slam Book share card?
The share card lets a student create their own classmate card once, then share it one-to-one with another Study Buddy user using a QR code and nearby transfer when available.
How does teacher mode work?
Teacher mode adds a Home control panel for multiple classes, subjects, grade levels, student lists, attendance, group maker, lesson planner, quick quiz, gradebook lite, and reports.
Where can I read the privacy policy?
The full policy is at /studybuddy/privacy. Short version: Study Buddy has no account requirement, no ads, no analytics SDKs, and stores student data locally unless the user exports or shares it.
