Study Buddy Privacy Policy
A local-first school app for notes, study help, planning, practice, and class memories.
Effective: 2026-07-07
App: Study Buddy (com.qnsub.studybuddy.app)
Publisher: QnSub Tech
Contact: studybuddy@qnsub.com
Study Buddy helps students and teachers organize school life through subjects, notes, Ask, study plans, practice tools, camera learning, study timer, classroom games, and Slam Book memories. The app is designed to be local-first: it does not require an account, and QnSub Tech does not include advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs in the app.
What Study Buddy stores on your device
Study Buddy may store the following locally on your iPhone:
- Profile and onboarding settings - nickname, role, grade level, section, birthday, app color, destination language, and preferences.
- Subjects and notes - subject names, teacher names, note titles, note text, note presets, attachments, and related grade-level organization.
- Ask history - questions asked, answers shown, sources, and saved answer notes.
- Study planning and practice - daily subject completion, study timer progress, points, math practice scores, calculator history, flashcard progress, and classroom game preferences.
- Slam Book data - your share card, classmate or teacher entries, photos you add, QR import history, grade-level class lists, and memory fields.
- Teacher mode data - teacher classes, grade levels, sections, subjects, student lists, attendance, lesson planning, gradebook lite records, and class reports.
- Study library data - bundled offline curriculum passages, reference data, vocabulary, dictionary tools, thesaurus, idioms, formulas, translations, and cached study content.
Camera, photos, and scanning
Study Buddy uses the camera only when you open a camera feature, such as Live Answer, Live Translate, Capture & Answer, QR share card scanning, or taking a classmate photo.
Photos access is used only when you choose images for notes, slambook profiles, attachments, backups, or related app features. Selected photos may be copied into the app's local storage so they remain available inside Study Buddy.
Microphone and speech recognition
Study Buddy uses the microphone only when you start dictation, voice input, or a voice question. Speech recognition may be used to turn spoken words into text before the app answers or saves the note.
Ask, AI, and study library
Study Buddy uses a bundled study library and local retrieval logic to answer school questions. On supported Apple devices and OS versions, the app may use Apple's on-device language model features to help organize or rewrite answers using the retrieved study passages.
The app is designed for study help and may not answer every question. It should not be used for medical, legal, financial, emergency, or safety-critical decisions.
QR codes and nearby sharing
The Slam Book share card feature can generate a one-time QR code so another Study Buddy user can receive your card. When available, Study Buddy may use local nearby transfer features to move larger card data, such as a profile photo, between nearby devices.
Only share your card with people you choose. A person who receives your card may save or share the details outside the app.
Music uploads and files
The study timer can use built-in focus music and music files you import. Imported audio files are stored locally for timer use until you delete them from the app.
Backup, export, and import
Study Buddy can export app data into a backup package and can import a compatible backup later. If you choose to email, message, AirDrop, save, or otherwise share a backup package, that action is controlled by iOS and the destination you choose.
What we do not do
- We do not require an account.
- We do not sell student data.
- We do not use advertising SDKs.
- We do not use analytics SDKs.
- We do not collect payment card details, government IDs, or school account passwords.
- We do not operate Study Buddy as an official school learning-management system.
iCloud, device backups, and Apple services
Data stored locally by Study Buddy may be included in your normal device backups depending on your iOS and iCloud settings. Apple system services such as dictation, speech recognition, camera, photos, share sheet, and device backup are governed by Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
Children and school use
Study Buddy is an education app that may be used by students with parent, guardian, or teacher supervision. Students should avoid entering sensitive personal information that is not needed for studying.
Deleting your data
You can delete entries inside the app where supported. You can also delete Study Buddy from your device to remove the app and its local data container. Backups or exported packages you already shared must be deleted from those destinations separately.
Changes to this policy
If Study Buddy's privacy practices change, we will update this page with a new effective date.
