Shake Alarm is an iPhone alarm app that helps you complete a wake-up routine by counting controlled phone shakes. It is designed to work without a QnSub account, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, camera access, microphone access, or cloud sync.
What Shake Alarm stores on your device
Shake Alarm may store the following locally on the device:
- Alarm settings - time, label, repeat days, enabled state, sound, snooze behavior, Strict Mode, and vibration settings.
- Challenge settings - required shake count, difficulty, haptic feedback, spoken progress setting, and related defaults.
- Alarm history - recent alarm outcomes, completion status, accepted shake counts, streak-related records, and timing summaries.
- Calibration data - motion calibration settings used to tune shake detection on your device.
- Pro access state - local entitlement status received through Apple's StoreKit APIs.
Alarm access
Shake Alarm uses Apple's alarm APIs to schedule and present the wake-up alarms you create. Alarm access is used only for alarm features you enable in the app.
Motion access
Shake Alarm asks for motion access so it can count controlled shakes during an alarm challenge or calibration session. Motion samples are processed live on the iPhone. Shake Alarm does not upload raw motion samples, calibration data, or challenge activity to QnSub.
Purchases and subscriptions
Shake Alarm may offer Pro features through Apple StoreKit, including a monthly subscription and a one-time Pro unlock. Apple processes purchases, refunds, subscription management, payment information, and App Store account details under Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
Network, analytics, and ads
Shake Alarm does not require a QnSub account and does not include advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs. Core alarms, challenge settings, calibration, and history are designed to stay on the device. Network access may be used by Apple system services for App Store purchases, subscription status, restore purchases, and normal device services.
What we do not do
- We do not require a Shake Alarm account.
- We do not sell alarm or motion data.
- We do not use advertising SDKs.
- We do not use analytics SDKs.
- We do not upload alarm history, calibration data, or motion samples to QnSub.
- We do not use camera or microphone access.
- We do not track users across apps or websites.
iCloud and device backups
Data stored locally by Shake Alarm may be included in your normal device backups depending on your iOS, iCloud, and backup settings. Apple system services such as alarms, App Store purchases, subscriptions, device backups, and motion permission are governed by Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
Deleting your data
You can delete alarm history and calibration data where controls are available in the app. You can also delete Shake Alarm from your iPhone to remove the app and its local data container. Device backups or exported copies must be deleted separately from the places where they were saved.
Safety note
Shake Alarm is a wake-up utility. It is not a medical device, emergency alert system, or life-critical alarm. Keep a backup alarm if missing an alarm would create risk, and use controlled movement with a secure grip during shake challenges.
Changes to this policy
If Shake Alarm's privacy practices change, we will update this page with a new effective date. Material changes, such as adding cloud sync or telemetry, will be highlighted.
