Plate OCR is sensitive to distance, angle, glare, motion, dirt, and regional formats. PlateDetect processes scans on device, but every result still needs review before it is used for a decision.
Give the camera a readable plate
Keep the plate centered, fill enough of the frame, hold the phone parallel to the surface, and avoid digital zoom. Change position to reduce glare instead of repeatedly scanning from the same angle.
Use format and confidence as filters
Select the relevant plate format and treat confidence as a prompt for review, not proof. Compare every character with the live view or vehicle before saving.
Keep records proportionate
Save only what the workflow requires, remove incorrect or outdated entries, and protect exports and watchlists. Follow local privacy, surveillance, workplace, and vehicle-data rules.
