Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for scanning, fees, exports, privacy, and backend setup.

Do I need an account to use Parking Manager?

No. Parking Manager is local-first. Scan, parking stays, saved plates, fee rules, exports, and settings work without a QnSub account.

What iOS version is required?

Parking Manager targets iOS 17 or later and is designed for iPhone.

Does plate reading happen on a server?

No. Plate localization and OCR are designed to run on device using Core ML and Apple Vision. QnSub does not receive camera frames or scanned plates by default.

Can I use manual entry instead of scanning?

Yes. Parking Manager supports manual plate entry for check-ins and check-outs, which is useful when lighting, angle, or camera access makes scanning difficult.

How are parking fees calculated?

Fee settings can include first-period rates, hourly rates, grace minutes, overnight fees, daily maximums, lost-ticket fees, time-of-day rates, and separate car or motorcycle schedules.

Can I export cashier reports?

Yes. Parking Manager can generate local cashier reports and activity exports, including CSV/PDF reports and metadata exports. Files are shared only when you choose a destination through iOS.

What is Bring Your Own Backend?

It is an optional integration where you enter your own HTTPS server URL and API token. If enabled, saved parking records can queue and upload to your server. It is off by default, and QnSub does not operate that endpoint unless you point the app at one controlled by QnSub.

Why does Parking Manager ask for Camera, Photos, Location, Microphone, or Face ID?

Camera powers live scanning. Photos supports selected photo/video import. Location is optional for lot or zone tagging. Microphone is used only if you record a voice note for a saved record. Face ID protects private records and exports when App Lock is enabled.

How do I delete Parking Manager data?

Delete individual records inside the app, use retention settings for automatic cleanup, use Delete All Data in Settings when available, or uninstall the app. If you enabled Bring Your Own Backend, delete synced data from the server you configured.

Where is the privacy policy?

You can read it here: Parking Manager Privacy Policy.
