Do I need an account to use TapTalk?
No. TapTalk is designed to work without an account. Vocabulary, board preferences, custom cells, recordings, and prediction learning are stored locally on the device.
Does TapTalk work offline?
Yes. The communication board, speech output, customizations, and local word predictions are designed to work offline. TapTalk does not require a network connection for core communication.
Why does TapTalk ask for microphone access?
Microphone access is used only when a caregiver records a familiar voice for a communication cell. If no recording is saved, TapTalk uses the device voice for speech.
Why does TapTalk use selected photos?
A caregiver can choose a photo for a custom cell, such as the user's own cup, caregiver, classroom, or favorite item. Selected images are copied into local app storage for that cell.
How do I customize a cell?
Open TapTalk settings, turn on caregiver editing, then tap a cell to edit its label, spoken phrase, photo emphasis, custom image, or recorded voice. Turn editing off again for normal one-tap communication.
Can TapTalk be used with accessibility features?
TapTalk is designed around large tap targets and simple controls, and it exposes labels and hints for iOS accessibility features such as VoiceOver and Switch Control. It also works alongside Guided Access and iOS Touch Accommodations.
Does TapTalk move words around automatically?
No. Stable positions are important for motor planning. TapTalk can show predicted next words in a dedicated prediction row, but it does not rearrange the main board on its own.
Is TapTalk a replacement for speech therapy, medical care, or emergency services?
No. TapTalk is a communication aid. It does not replace professional medical care, speech-language therapy, emergency services, or caregiver judgment.
